中国老龄化加剧：2020年老年人口上升到2.4亿

China will have 240 million people aged 60 or above by the year of 2020, according to a senior health official.

据一名高级卫生官员表示，到2020年，中国60岁以上的老龄人口将达到2.4亿。

Liu Qian, deputy head of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, was addressing the InterAcademy Partnership for Health 2016 Conference, held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Beijing.

上周二至周三，北京举行了国际科学院健康合作2016年大会，中国国家卫生和计划生育委员会副局长刘倩（音）出席会议并作出了该讲话。

By 2020, senior citizens will make up 17 percent of the population, the official said.

刘倩表示，到2020年，中国老年人口占总人口比例将高达17%。

Liu noted the severe situation with regard to chronic disease, with more than 260 million chronically ill patients in the country. These illnesses are to blame for over 86 percent of deaths in China.

刘倩指出届时中国将出现严重的慢性疾病状况，中国将会出现超过2.6亿的慢性疾病患者。在中国的死亡人口中，超过86%的人都是因为慢性疾病而死。

Liu said the per capita annual spending on health was estimated at around 472 U.S. dollars in 2015.

刘倩表示，2015年人均年度健康支出估计大约472美元。

Liu also promised to improve the medical insurance system and basic public health services, and to encourage development of traditional Chinese medicine and research.

刘倩还承诺将改善医疗保险制度和基本公共卫生服务，并且鼓励对中医药进行发展和研究。
