中国军舰抵达夏威夷准备环太平洋军演

Chinese ships have arrived in Hawaii to participate for the first time in the world’s largest international maritime exercise, known as the Rim of the Pacific, or RIMPAC.

The Chinese fleet consists of a guided missile destroyer, a guided missile escort ship, a multi-purpose supply ship and a medical ship. China is also sending two helicopters, a team of divers and a special forces unit that includes a total of 1,100 military personnel. After the Chinese fleet left port on Monday, it sailed to Guam, where it met ships from the US, Singapore and Brunei before together heading to Hawaii.

More than 20 nations are participating in the drill. The Chinese navy will join in cannon firing, maritime security actions, and maritime warship exercises. There will also be a military medicine exchange, humanitarian aid and disaster reduction exercises, and diving drills. RIMPAC began in 1971 and is held every two years, led by the US.
