Dancers from the show "Burn the Floor" are dancing in a Latin style to a pop song "Don't Stop the Music". The combination impressed many of the audience members.
"It's a mix of different show dances. It's very impressive," Carsten Lange said.
"It's very modern. There's a mix of modern and Latin dances. I hadn't seen so many elements in a dance show," Zhao Ling said.
In addition to Latin, dancers performed styles including jazz and waltz. They say they want to bring more fresh experiences to dance shows.
"I think because it's been shown more on TV, I think before people knew about it, but it had a very old stereotype. It appeared more to your grandma, your grandparents, rather than the younger generation, but now it's incorporated Latin dance with something very modern and current, and the costumes are really current and modern as well," said Gary Max Wright, dancer.
"I think there are so many different stories that at one point, the audience can relate somehow to their life, with what's happening up here, whether something really happy, between a man and woman, or the fight of who to go with, what to do in real life, like relationships is a big one," said Jemma Armstrong, dancer.
"Burn the Floor" has performed in many countries, including New York's Broadway and London's West End. Its shows in Shanghai will run until November, and after that it will visit Beijing and Chengdu.
