Panamanian VP has high hopes for cooperation with China

China and Panama have signed a memorandum to establish full diplomatic ties in Beijing. In an interview with CGTN, the Panamanian Vice president Isabel de Saint Malo expressed high hopes for the future relationship.

CGTN’s Li Jianhua reports that Saint Malo and the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed that relations between the two nations are now entering a new chapter.

The vice president said that Panama could be the gateway for China to enter the Atlantic with its advantages as a “logistics platform, aviation hub and the canal.”

She also expressed her nation's willingness to join the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, and laid high hopes on cooperation areas such as investment, trade, technology, tourism and maritime affairs.
