沙特阿拉伯召回驻埃及大使

RIYADH - Saudi Arabia announced Saturday to recall its ambassador in Egypt and close its embassy in Cairo and consulates in the Egyptian cities of Alexandria and Suez, the official Saudi press agency (SPA) reported.

沙特阿拉伯周六宣布召回其驻埃及大使并关闭其在开罗的大使馆和在埃及城市亚历山大和苏伊士的领事馆，沙特阿拉伯官方新闻社报道。

The Saudi ambassador to Egypt has been recalled for consultation after days of protests by Egyptians in front of the Saudi diplomatic missions, SPA said.

沙特通讯社称埃及人在沙特大使馆前连续几天抗议后，沙特驻埃及大使已被召回磋商。

"The protests and attempts to storm the Saudi embassy have threatened the security of both Saudi and Egyptian staff. The hostile slogans chanted by the protesters have violated the dignity of the Saudi diplomatic missions," it said.

The protesters were calling for the release of an Egyptian lawyer and activist, Ahmed Gezawi, who was detained earlier this month at a Saudi airport for carrying drugs.
