In Afghanistan, a suicide attack in the capital Kabul killed at least 15 people and wounded dozens of others. The suicide bomber blew himself up near the country's Defense Ministry office on Saturday, just as the ministry's staff were leaving their offices.

The Taliban group claimed responsibility but said no civilian died there. Just hours earlier, a separate attack in the eastern province of Kunar killed 13 people. The attacks put prospects for new peace talks in doubt. Afghanistan, China, Pakistan and the US are making fresh efforts to restart talks aimed at ending Taliban's insurgency in Afghanistan.
