Hung Hsiu-Chu, who was endorsed as official candidate in July, refused to quit as rumors swirled she would be ousted by the deeply divided Party. Known as "little hot pepper" for her straight-talking style, Hung Hsiu-chu is trailing behind opposition candidate Tsai Ing-wen in the polls.
