中国政府叙利亚问题特使与联合国特使会晤

China's special envoy to Syria, Xie Xiaoyan, met with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Thursday in Geneva during the seventh round of Syrian peace talks.

De Mistura said more progress has been made during the talks aimed at ending the seven years of war in Syria. major Syrian opposition groups, including the High Negotiations Committee, Cairo and Moscow opposition delegations, have held talks together, he said.

Another positive development is a stronger commitment to fight against terrorism, De Mistura said, adding that the Syrian government and the opposition groups will hold talks together one day in the future.

Xie said the only way out for Syrians is through political settlement with negotiations and that UN-sponsored peace talks play an indispensable role in the mediation aiming at ending the seven-years-long of war in Syria.
