Authorities in Tokyo are trying to find out who is behind the vandalisation of Anne Frank's "The Diary of a Young Girl", in several public libraries across the Japanese capital. Scores of other books about the young Holocaust victim have also been damaged.
Two hundred and sixty-five books in 31 libraries have had pages ripped out since the first vandalised book was found in January. The incident is being investigated by police.
Shinjuku City's Chuo Library says it's found 39 vandalised books - all relating to Anne Frank.
Anne frank is one of the most well-known Jewish victims of the Holocaust carried out by Nazi Germany in World War II. Her wartime diary documents her experiences while in hiding during the German occupation of the Netherlands. She eventually was arrested and died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
The book has been published in many languages across the world.
