According to the US Pacific Fleet website, the month-long drill involves around 25,000 personnel from 23 nations, along with 49 surface ships, 6 submarines, and more than 200 aircraft. A Chinese fleet with over one thousand soldiers and officers are now in Pearl Harbor for exchange events, including press conferences and visits of warships. The drill officially begins on July 9th.
Chinese vessels will take part in operations which test weapons, anti-piracy and disaster-relief abilities, coordinated interceptions and landings, and joint assaults by warships and ship-borne helicopters. Brunei is also joining the drill for the first time.
