New satellite to protect China from cyber attacks

发布时间:

China has successfully launched the world's first quantum satellite. The 'Quantum Experiments at Space Scale,' or QUESS, was blasted off from China's northwestern Gobi desert at 1:40 AM on Tuesday. In its two-year mission, QUESS will try to establish 'hack-proof' communications using quantum technology.

New satellite to protect China from cyber attacks

China launches the world's first quantum satellite on top of a Long March-2D rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch center in Jiuquan, northwest China's Gansu Province, Aug. 16, 2016. The world's first quantum communication satellite, which China is preparing to launch, has been given the moniker "Micius," after a fifth century B.C. Chinese scientist, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced Monday. (Xinhua/Jin Liwang)

China has just sent a satellite in the orbit and a project is being closely watched in not only the world's scientific circles but also in the trenches of cyber security. It was a perfect launch in China's Gobi desert. The rocket is carrying China's first quantum communication satellite into orbit from a launch pad in Inner Mongolia. The big question is how will this study affect quantum communication. It is an important question in this era of cyber attacks and information leaks. If the satellite works the way Chinese scientists believe, it will pave the way for a hack-proof communication system. The reason quantum serve as a protector of encrypted information , the ultra-high system means information cannot be intercepted. Scientists say what is going on is truly revolutionary.
