The Chinese embassy in South Korea said it had not received a request for help from the man who claimed to be stuck in the country because his son had made his passport unrecognizable, New express Daily reported.
A Sina Weibo user posted a photo of his passport on May 15 claiming it had been scribbled on by his son. The photo went viral online and was reported by Britain's Daily Mail and Fox News. But some web users questioned the picture was doctored.
