泰国军方禁止反政变抗议

Thailand’s military junta has said they will no longer allow any demonstrations against last week’s military takeover.

More than 1,000 troops and police blocked all roads to the capital’s Victory Monument. A Belgian man was detained for displaying a T-shirt saying "peace please", and two Thai women were taken away in a police truck after they showed signs against the army takeover.

In another part of Bangkok, about 100 students held protests against the military takeover on the campus of Thammasat university which ended peacefully.

On Thursday, Thai military leader general Prayuth Chan-ocha set a three-step process for holding an election, but no time-frame was outlined.

Last week, the army seized power from the government. It has summoned more than 250 people, including high-profile political figures, journalists, scholars and activists. The army says it has to restore order after seven months of unrest.
