习近平与杜特尔特同意推进两国关系促进合作

习近平会见了菲律宾总统罗德里格·杜特尔特。习近平表示中菲两国应继续修复之前的紧张关系，适当化解分歧。

President Xi has also met with his Philippine counterpart, Rodrigo Duterte. president Xi says the two nations should continue to work to repair previously-strained relations and manage their differences properly.

He urges both sides to explore the possibility of cooperating in the South China Sea. This will transform the area from a source of tension to a major part of friendly bilateral ties.

For his part, Duterte says the Philippines is willing to properly address maritime issues with China through dialogue and consultation. He says the nation follows an independent foreign policy and is willing to be friends with "brotherly" China forever.
