2016全国冬季运动会将于1月20在乌鲁木齐举行

A press conference was held by the Organizing Committee for the 2016 China National Winter Games. The gathering in Beijing featured the release of the multi-sport event's official theme song, and updated the progress of the preparation work, as the Opening ceremony is less than four weeks away.

This competition will take place in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the theme song, called "Crossing The Ice," features a melody described as graceful and full of positive energy. The tune combines classical and modern music with strong local elements.

The Committee also released a commemorative stamp and postcard set. Following the Opening Ceremony on January 20th, the stamp will be available at post offices across the country.

This is the first time for Xinjiang to host a comprehensive national sporting event, and the preparation work has entered its final stages. The main venue and winter sports center in Urumqi will be the site of the Opening Ceremony, as well as speed skating, figure skating, and several other events.

The skiing facility has also undergone multiple tests, as the officials in charge continue to fine-tune their preparations.

"For our Organizing Committee, paying attention to details, implementation work, and providing warm and considerable services are all important. It is also important to reach first-class standards in infrastructure, transportation, networking, and competition," said Li Guangming, Organizing Committee secretary.
