The Chinese Defense Ministry has expressed anger and strong opposition to U.S. indictment of Chinese military officers for alleged hacking, and has lodged complaints.
Defense Ministry Spokesman Geng Yansheng said that China’s stance on cyber security is consistent and clear. He says that the government and army have never engaged in any kind of cyber theft activities, and that U.S. accusation is totally baseless and has ulterior motives.
Geng said that the U.S. has shown its hypocrisy and double standards on cyber security issues. He said that the U.S. itself has long been involved in large-scale and organized cyber-theft as well as wire-tapping and surveillance activities against foreign political leaders, companies and individuals.
The spokesman said that many of the Chinese Army’s computer terminals have been subjected to cyber attacks from abroad, many of them originating from the U.S. Geng spoke highly of the trend of development of China-U.S. military-to-military relations, and called on the U.S. to make concretes effort to advance it.
