It’s the fans that really make the Olympics what it is. And young and old, watched the torch being extinguished in the Olympic Park.

Meanwhile those who were lucky enough to get a ticket to watch the ceremony from inside Fisht Stadium itself, were in high spirits when they left the venue, with the Olympic Rings joke, in particular, going down very well indeed.

"And especially the humor with the opening of the rings - that was a very nice touch - so, yes, it’s been great, very friendly faces, and a lot of team spirit." Michael Stepanian, an American spectator said.

"Oh, I liked it very much, it was amazing. I have a lot of emotion, very good emotion, a lot of exciting. It was great, I like it very much." Sofiya Sukharyan, a Russian spectator said.
