Migrants rush to Greek camp on rumors border will open

Hundreds of migrants and refugees have flooded into Greece's Idomeni camp on the border with Macedonia, following rumors that the closed frontier could soon be forced open.

By late morning, hundreds of people had gathered by the railway tracks near a border fence.

Around 50 thousand migrants and refugees remain trapped in Greece after several Balkan countries closed their borders to migrants, effectively cutting off their route north into the European Union.

A rumor that international journalists and Red Cross officials will help migrants force their way through the fence into Macedonia appears to have triggered the wave of new arrivals.
