联合国秘书长呼吁结束加沙暴力

UN chief Ban Ki-moon has called Israel’s latest incursion in Gaza atrocious, and said it must do far more to protect civilians. Ban has also renewed his call to end violence and move towards a ceasefire, following his meeting with Qatari Foreign Minister Khalid al-Attiya and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar. Qatar is seen as a strategic player in brokering the ceasefire deal.

"I repeat my demand to all sides that they must respect international humanitarian law. The violence must stop now. I’m here on a journey of solidarity and peace. Qatar and its leadership are vital to international efforts to resolve the crisis." said Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General.
