Suspect arrested in relation to Chinese consulate general attack
The US Diplomatic security Bureau says a suspect has been arrested in connection to the New Year’s Day arson attack on the Chinese consulate general in San Francisco.
Authorities have yet to provide details on the suspect’s identity. But the Federal Bureau of Investigation will hold a press briefing on January 6th to release further information.
The Chinese consulate was attacked Wednesday evening, when a person got out of a mini-van parked in front of the building’s main entrance, poured two buckets of gasoline onto the front door and set it alight. The entrance was severely damaged in the incident, but no injuries were reported.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry immediately lodged solemn representations, demanding the US investigate the case as soon as possible and bring the culprit to justice.
